You said all the truth about your design business.

I envy your line of work, I really do. I’ve always said if I had gone to school for something other than writing, it would have been for graphic design. I find the entire process fascinating.

I love this post. As an artist and interior designer, I deal with many of the same questions/assumptions. But I can tell you that for all my strengths in my areas of expertise, I need a LOT of help with all the other design stuff: graphics, web, copy, etc. Not everybody can push a button to make great design, and you should be paid, and appreciated, for doing what you do!

  • I have worked with some very talented designers in my time, and their work is absolutely indispensable to the branding and marketing of a business. If people balk at paying for good design, they don’t understand the importance of their brand!

  • Beautifully said…I hate to resort to the cliches of “you get what you pay for” and There is no such thing as a free lunch”…but they became common for a reason! It’s true!

Interesting…Most people don’t want to pay money for good & professional design ( not only design ) just because they don’t see the difference between cheap and classy stuff. Their eyes, heads and brains aren’t trained to see this. Real leather or crafted leather, oil or acrylic, professional design or free platform…are the same things for them, and they will get what they pay for…
